Great percentages of New Zealand's indigenous species are endemic ( found only in New Zealand ). This is outstanding worldwide. Great Britain has just two endemic species : one plant and one animal. Yet around ninety p.c of New Zealand's insects and sea molluscs, 80 percent of trees, ferns and ripening plants and twenty-five percent of bird species, all 60 reptiles, 4 remaining frogs and 2 species of bat are found nowhere else on Earth.

NZ Identity has commitment to the conservation of New Zealands native birds, plants and animals. We plan to support conservation projects from the sales of NZ Identity souvenirs at your design store. Currently we are supporting two such projects, with more in the pipeline.

We has adopted a Tuatara ( see photo above ) thru the Auckland Zoo. We elected to take on this animal in prison, as Tuatara's are only found on the offshore islands of New Zealand and we think it's very important that people can see the Tuatara, as it is unique to New Zealand. We also need to support the fantastic work the Zoo does for conservation.
