The area that is now present day California has since its very beginnings been a land of mixed languages. It goes without saying that within the state of California, one can find an abundance of translation professionals who are proficient in nearly any language and subject.

There are many reasons why San Francisco is home to people from many nationalities. As a large port of entry, the city has attracted a great deal of businesses that are involved in international trade and commerce. There is also a Little Italy and a Chinese quarter of which no other city has the like. As one of the top tourist attractions in San Francisco, Chinatown is the largest Chinatown outside of Asia as well as the oldest Chinatown in North America. In 1906, the destruction of Chinatown by fire was considered a great blessing of the Earthquake to some. Many felt it should have burned long before. The earthquake and subsequent fires leveled Chinatown and abruptly put an end to its isolated and self-contained way of life The new Chinatown gained considerably in sanitation and in the housing of its commercial establishments. Because the new Chinatown was rebuilt at its original site on valuable property, the improved construction and sanitation allowed businesses such as San Francisco Translation to prosper.

Just like San Francisco, San Jose offers a wide variety of exciting cultural, recreational, educational and entertainment opportunities. When visitors take a short drive from San Francisco, they can visit another international city of San Jose that features nice weather, ethnic diversity and more fun and excitement. San Jose was founded in 1997 and today represents one of the largest concentrations of technology expertise in the world which employees nearly 254,000 people. With a population of over 1-million people, San José is the third largest city in California and is the 10th largest city in the U.S. Around the year 1845, the population of the area swelled to nearly 800 people. It's important to note that since San Jose was established, it has had an important Spanish persuasion. As Mexico gradually withdrew from the California territory, the area known as San Jose continued to grow from a cultural, political and economic perspective. Although Mexico lost California and the Mexican soldiers retreated back into Mexico, that didn’t stop the settlement of San Jose from growing and prospering into the major U.S. city that it is today. This was partly due to the success of San Jose Translation Services. Between the time that the U.S. took control of California and the year 1847, the native Indians in the San Jose area led a brief fight against the town. In 1850, San Jose received the designation of city status and was also named the state's first capital.

Although the first two cities that we discussed are located in Northern California, San Diego is located in Southern California. The original Spanish settlement of San Diego isn’t too far away from the main commerce section of the city and can be jogged to from downtown. Through numerous occupations and change of hands combined with its relative proximity to Mexico meant that it was an important language center. As a result of the occupations and proximity to Mexico, the San Diego Translation Services prospered. By 1867 the population of the city had decreased so considerably, that a land developer laid out a new city about 3 miles south of the old town. Today, this new section that was build in the late 1800's is known as San Diego.
