Many Americans have memberships to gyms where they go to particpate in fitness. They take their turns for 30 minutes on different machines like a treadmill or elliptical machine and perhaps particpate in a few group exercise classes too. After awhile, this tends to become monotonous and boring and results in people not going to the gym as regularly anymore. This is a great workout for your upper body and core and helps to improve your balance too. For a cardio intense workout do quick runs and some jumping in the sand and you will be shocked at how quickly you will be tired.

In the mountainous regions there are many opportunities to have a wonderful workout while enjoying being outside. During the winter months, you can go from hut to hut snowshoeing trek where you snowshoe from huts in the mountains over a couple of days. You will be exhausted after all of the cardio exercise and fresh air. In the warmer months you can mountain bike on a ski resort runs or go to a boot camp class at the red rocks amphitheatre outside of Denver. This class has you walking and jumping up and down the stone steps while you look out at a spectacular view.

Living out in a rural area or near a farm also offers great ways to get exercise. Try carrying hay bales or loading loose hay from one area to another to have your arms, cardio and abs all exhausted. Actually any kind of farm work is good exercise and by helping outassisting for a day at someone's farm will give you an excellent workout in addition to experiencing something new.

Wherever you live, there are ways to be in shape without having to have any kind of exercise equipment or gym membership.
