Exploring Barcelona, Spain - European Flair And Sunny Beach Locations

Barcelona is special because it takes two qualities of fun vacations - stunning beaches and that unique European city vibe - and presents them in a tidy package. Located right on the coast of the glittering Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona is the second largest city in all of Spain. It has a very colorful 2,000-year-long history, yet it is heavily influenced by modernity. While Barcelona definitely feels like a very modern city, it is still possible to catch glimpses of its past. In order to go to Barcelona, you will need a United States passport.

You will be surprised how much simpler and more convenient the passport application process is when you do your passport business online. Not only is it easier and more convenient, but you get your passport much quicker as well. Online expediting sites were created in order to help people get their passports fast, and with their variety of services - from getting your first passport to a passport replacement - all of your bases are covered.

Barcelona, like many big cities, is divided into many districts. Each of these districts is different from the last and has its own unique atmosphere. The Old Town District in Barcelona is referred to as Ciutat Vella. Within this district is Barri Gotic, the Gothic Quarter. The Gothic Quarter is a place that is perfect for walking; the delightful narrow streets and stunning Gothic architecture are things that really set the mood in Barcelona. Also located in Ciutat Vella is Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas is the most famous street in all of Barcelona, thanks to its living atmosphere. Street performers are always performing, and there are plenty of restaurants and places to shop. Eixample is another district in Barcelona. Famous for its art nouveau buildings, Eixample is a great representative of Barcelona as a whole. Gracia is a very cosmopolitan district, and Barceloneta is home to the stunning beaches and oceanfront cafes.

Tibidabo is a tall mountain located to the north of Barcelona, and is the best spot from which to get an awesome view of the city. On top of the mountain is an old church, and there is a story that describes how the Devil tried to tempt Jesus with the whole world on this very spot. You are able to either take a tram or walk, and both options give you a beautiful view of the mountain. Montjuic is another tall mountain with a great view, but this one offers a cable car ride that is not only scenic, but fun as well. Montserrat is a mountain that features an ancient monastery. There are plenty of hiking trails on and around this mountain to explore too.

There are two famous attractions in Barcelona that happen to be located within a few minutes' walk of each other. La Sagrada Familia is a Roman Catholic Basilica, and is easily the most famous site in the whole city. However, the Church remains unfinished, as the architect commissioned to build it died during construction. It is set to be finished on the 100 year anniversary of the architect's death. Hospital de Sant Pau is a hospital that is still completely functional, but it is famous for its modernist look, which Barcelona is symbolic of.

Depending on what sorts of things you like to do, there is plenty to grab your interest in Barcelona. Be sure to visit some of the famous art museums, including the Dali museum, and eat some famous Spanish food as well. The nightlife has a reputation for being excellent, and the beaches are a great place to soak up the sun. Just don't forget your passport. Go online to get yours, where they can handle things like getting a USA passport replacement or renewal.
