Free Online Poker Tips on How to Play the Turn Card in Texas Hold'em
Free Online Poker site NoPayPOKER.com know the importance of the fourth card. The 4th community card is one of the most important in the game of hold’em poker. This one card alone can make a flush or straight in the game, and usually helps a players hand in one way or another.
Just to give an example, say the flop includes a queen, jack, five. The fourth card up is dealt and it's a nine. You can bet your horse that somebody in the pot has a ten, giving him a four-card straight right there. And if he happens to be holding a king, then, he's already got himself a king-high straight. Somebody sitting there may have turn three jacks and he is feeling good, and suddenly he's looking at a possible straight in another players hand. That's how much that fourth card can change things.
There are some split pots in hold'em, because with everybody playing those five community cards, there'll be some equal hands held. This is important for you to realise when you first start playing the game. Watch that board and if there's a straight there, everybody that stayed in the pot has got a straight. If the flop cards are seven, eight, nine, ten, jack, and your holding the queen, naturally you've got the biggest straight on the table. (You don't use the seven, of course).
You've got the winning hand. If no one has a queen, it's a slit pit, and everybody that participated shares the win. Occasionally a four-card flush will come up in hold'em. If there are four hearts on the board and you've got an ace of hearts on your hands, you've got a cinch if the board isn't paired, or if there isn't a possible straight flush out you'll win with your nut (ace-high) flush.
So, whether you are playing free online poker or in a casino, remember that the fourth community card is the one that can change everything for you.
