Golfing Holiday Scotland Why You Need Some Practice

Sometimes things happen fast. You show an interest in golf and then your friends teach you, next thing you know you’ve coming to a golfing holiday in Scotland. What's a beginner to do but practice, and practice quickly, in preparation for that vacation? If you’re already busy enough as it is, how are you going to cram some practice into your flooded calendar? Here are some golf tips that can help.

Golfing Holiday Scotland - Watch a Lot of Golf

You may want to study the swing-motion of some PGA championship players. Tiger Woods, for example, is reported to get in trouble when his swing gets long, and unsynchronised. Watch closely his backswing and his follow through. When the length of his follow through is controlled, along with his backswing, his consistency in hitting the ball rises. During the swing, his body is aligned with his arms. That’s what explains the consistency. Some players can understand this even when they are not able to explain it. One’s stomach and back muscles serve as the fulcrum of the entire movement relative to the ball. Long uncontrolled swings means the arms can’t keep up. So before you embark on a golfing holiday in Scotland, watch the masters and how they swing it.

Golfing Holiday Scotland - You Need to Practice Your Swings

Sometimes, regardless of how many videos online you watch or articles you read over and over, you feel "stuck" during your practice. That's when you think you're doing the correct motions but the results tend to argue otherwise. Just go back to the basics of form. On your next practice swing, be sure to hold your end pose. You have to keep that pose in mind, make it the end-all and be-all of your every swing. Perfect that form and you gain control. Before your golfing holiday in Scotland comes, try to practice this.

Golfing Holiday Scotland - A Series of Causes and Effects

Here's a refreshing tip, for use on both the course and when you practice. Whatever your friends told you about your swing, forget it. This is not to mean they are not trying to help you out. It's just that one cannot expect the average golfer to accurately identify your swing problems. A golf swing is a series of motions ruled by cause and effect. We only normally see the effect, and rarely can we "see" the dissected causes. That’s why many players practice without knowing the cause of their swing’s problem. The sooner you spot the cause the sooner you can change the effect.

Most of these tips have to do with the study of motion as applied to golf. Everyone and everything are governed by the rules of motion. The more you see golf in terms of motion, the more you can discern on your own the causes of your own problems. That’s a good way to practice for your golfing holiday in Scotland. Should you show some signs of improvement though, don’t brag about this to your friends.
