Grab Your Bag and Book Your Hotel: York?s the Place to be

For a UK city break you can;t beat York. Although its Northern location means you might not get the perfect weather, it is still the perfect city for a romantic, cultural break. There’s too much to see in one day, so you’ll almost certainly need a couple of days and a hotel, York has plenty though.

The small and historical city is unrivalled in the UK. There are mazes of narrow, cobbled streets lined with small, independent shops as well as the nation’s big players. As well as all this there is exquisite architecture in the form of the beautiful York Minster and the beautiful river with its many riverside cafes and bars to relax in.

The city’s heritage includes influences from the Romans, the Viking and Medieval times and as a result the city has some great museums, including the Jorvik Viking Centre and the York Dungeons. But there’s always the National Railway Museum for a more modern day out.

Away from the centre and your hotel, York is close to the dales and some stunning countryside. The gardens at nearby Harewood House are a must see for green fingered visitors.

Whatever time of year you visit York there is sure to be something going on in the city. A vast array of exhibitions, shows and rallies visit the city. Regular markets selling local produce can be found mingling with the races, the railway show and the Viking festival.

When it comes to finding a hotel, York has great choice. Probably the most luxurious hotel York has is the Alwark Manor Hotel which is set in a beautiful Victorian house. For the visitor who is tired after sight-seeing the spa and golf course there offer the perfect solution for relaxation.
