How to Get Speedy Passport Processing
Are you in need of speedy passport service? Plan to travel abroad and still do not have a passport? What can you do? This article will discuss how you can get a passport as fast as the same day.
[No matter what passport service|Independent of what type of passport} you need - first time, renewal, added visa pages, name change, correction, etc. - expediting an application that is sent by mail takes 2-3 weeks. While this is quicker than regular processing which takes four to six weeks, there are a couple of options that will get your travel document to you much sooner.
There are two ways for you to get a same day passport. The decision you have to make is whether you want to apply yourself or do you prefer to have a private expediting service submit the application for you.
Applying for speedy passport service yourself will save you some money but it will cost you some time. Authorizing a private passport expediter to get the passport for you will cost you more money but will save you a lot of time.
Same Day Passport at a Regional Agency
The first step to apply for a passport at a regional agency is to make an appointment by calling 1-877-487-2778 toll-free. This is an automated service and can be difficult to get through during periods of the year when the number of people traveling increases significantly.
Regional passport agencies serve specific regions so you need to make an appointment at the agency that attends residents in the state in which you reside. Depending on where you live, this could be in the same city or several states away.
It is recommended that you arrive at the agency no more than 15 minutes early and definitely not late. Take the correct application, all required documents and payment with you. There is an additional $60 fee for expedited service charged by the State Department.
If all goes well and your documents are correct, you should be allowed to pick up your passport on the same day.
Speedy Passport Service through an Expediter
When you cannot travel to a regional agency but need to get your passport in two weeks or less, your best option is to authorize a private expediter to submit the application for you.
The first step is to apply online for this service. Once you have applied to the expediter, you send them your passport application, required documents and payment for fees.
Note, applicants for a new passport must still sign their application in the presence of an authorized agent at an official application acceptance facility. However, instead of mailing the sealed envelope directly to the State Department, you will send it to the expediter.
The ideal situation is to apply early and avoid the stress and additional expenses. Of course, when you are at risk of having to cancel your travel plans, speedy passport service through an expediter can be a good investment. The important thing is to get your passport quickly.
