Notre Dame Of Paris
Say the words Cathdrale de Notre-Dame and what springs to mind? For you it could be the scene where Lon tries to seduce Emma in Madame Bovary, the image of one of Monets many clear paintings, or the crypt containing the heart of Richard the Lionheart, but i personally think of Quasimodo and Esmeralda in Disneys The Hunchback of Notre dame. One of Frances most beautiful Gothic Masterpieces, the Notre lady is as vivid in the real world as it seems in the films.
Hence get out of your location paris and make a day of seeing this beautiful cathedral, open from 2-6pm Mon ; 8am-6pm Tue-Sun, admission to the cathedral is free. The Notre dame was reconstructed fter the second World War thanks to the eradication caused by shelling. The building that now stands there is the 3rd church to have stood on the very same site, as over time different events have caused the churchs eradication. The first church came into being in the 3rd century, the second was robbed by the Vikings, and most of what you see nowadays came into being in the twelfth and thirtheenth centuries so that you can be guaranteed, its decrepit! The church also received a battering in the radical section of the French Revolution in the 1790s, when much of its religious imagery was damaged or annihilated.
Notre lady de Paris is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. The name Notre dame means "Our lady" in French and this cathedral was one of the first Gothic cathedrals, and its construction spanned the Gothic period. Its sculptures and stained glass show the heavy influence of naturalism, unlike that of earlier Romanesque architecture.
confirm this is on your list of destinations to see during your weekend or week long break to Paris, fortunately the cathedral is centrally located in Paris, and close by you'll find plenty of shops, restaurants and sweet French cafes, amongst lots of location appartement paris.
