Points To Reduce Potential Injuries In The Playground

If you are worried about being too much anxious over leaving your child in a playing area, then you don’t have to because it is an indication of your good parenthood. It is good to be careful about your little ones recreational time equally as you are about their school and sleeping time.Children are snooping and children are ignorant, they have a very good tendency of learning from their own mistakes. But sometimes these mistakes can be quite dangerous. Whether it is an infant falling from a small bicycle or a teenager slipping over his first inline skates or a bigger kid slipping out of control on his roller hockey skates, kids will always be kids and they will forever require your attentive eye. With little safety measures, you can ensure your children’s protection in any recreational activity they are involved in. There is a few playground safety rules that both you and your ward shall stick to:

• First of all, thing to remember about playground safety is that no matter what age, any kid tends to get very reckless in efforts to show off his skills. Adult watch is always needed, be it the parent or be it someone else assigned for this purpose, make sure that your kids are always being watched by an adult who can not only keep an eye for any hazard your child might be going towards but also offer an urgent first aid in case of any mishap.

• If your child is up for bicycle or skating, check out for proper safety equipments. The most important of all equipments is the helmet but it is also vital that the knees and elbows are also correctly protected. The shoes should also be comfy enough and without strings to avoid tripping incidents.

• A lot of risk can be reduced by the type of of surfaces in the play area. Whether it is a play area at your own home or at your child’s school or the one in nearby neighborhood, carefully inspect that there are no rough and edgy surfaces around. The ground surface should be gentle enough to cushion a child if he falls. Hard concrete and even natural terrians can be quite dangerous for this purpose as the water fills and small ditches can cause the child to fall. The best option is to loosely fill the surface area with sand, gravel, wood chips and rubber shreds.

• Next point to remember is whether or not the play area is suitable for your child’s age. Children of age 5-8 can find the play structures for teens quite exciting and thrilling but there is no chance you should let them play there. Ensure that the structures are not too high for your child and there are no such openings where a child can get his head or finger stuck.

• Lastly but importantly, teach your children to behave ethically and follow all the rules in playground. Tell them to be competitive without being hostile. There should be no pushingor any kind of hurting act in the playground. They must be told not eat while playing and not to put there messy hands in their mouths even if they don’t look so messy.
