Read these 12 Etiquette to Make The Most Out of Your Spa Visit

A trip to a spa ought to be a de-stressing and rejuvenating experience, but if you're unsure of spa etiquette, it can turn out to be an experience that is not what you wish for. Let's adopt the tips below as a rough guideline to maximize your spa visit.

1) Arrive early. Arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes before your actual spa appointment to allow time for check-in and change into your bathrobe and slippers. Some spas might need you to fill in the consulation form.

2) Leave valuable stuff at home. Although spa usually allocates a locker for each customer, it is still the best option to leave unnecessary valuable items such as necklace, rings, and etc at home.

3) Turn off your cellphone. Turn off your cellphone or best leave that in the locker. You do not wish the ringing phone to spoil the calm and relaxing atmosphere. That is not good for you and others.

4) Request a spa tour. Go for a spa tour to make you comfortable in your surroundings.

5) Select your therapist. Choose whether you need a female or male therapist. Or get a certified massage therapist who meets your specific needs.

6) Pick your products and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Ask the therapists to show and explain the products to you and discuss the options.

7) Speak up. If you’re not happy with anything throughout your treatment, the pressure, the music, the temperature. Then ask the therapist to make an adjustment.

8) Don’t’ talk if you don’t feel like it. It is entirely up to you whether you wish to talk or stay quiet. The therapist will follow your lead.

9) Dress comfortably. Massage treatment is usually done completely nude, but you are covered with a towel at all times. Only the part being massaged is exposed. If you’re more comfortable having your underwear on, that’s fine. Just tell that to your therapist.

10) Reschedule if you’re unwell. Postpone your appointment if you catch a cold or migraine as the massage will simulate your circulation and make it even worse.

11) Take your time once done. After your treatment finished, you will be led back to the locker room. There is specific time for you to leave. You can shower, get dressed, put on your makeup, do your hair, have a cup of tea and etc. before you leave.

12) Settle the bill and tipping. Carefully check the receipt to ensure there is no overcharge. And tipping is at your discretion.

Again, spa goers can adopt the above tip as a rough guideline to get the most out of their spa experience.
