Spring Villa Breaks On Lanzarote

Spring is a fantastic time to visit Lanzarote as this small gem in the Canaries is bedecked with wild flowers from March to May, whilst the weather is delightfully warm as the mercury climbs into the mid 20´s Celsius.

The spring months are an ideal time to visit Lanzarote, and even though the hillsides in the north of the island are carpeted in a variety of wild flowers, such as poppies, daisies and Canarian stock other aspect of the island are starting to bloom too. There are also a raft of great fiestas and festivals for visitors to enjoy too - including the celebrations of Holy Week or Semana Santa as it is known in Spain.

Lots of tourists like to visit the island at this time - booking Lanzarote villas at this time of the year to take advantage of the improving weather , and little wonder as it is such a pronounced contrast to the UK and Germany, which is where the majority of the islands tourists originate from. And during the spring months from March through to May they can explore the island and take in the sights or just head for the beach. Where the sea temperatures will have climbed sufficiently for them to enjoy a swim in the Atlantic.

Most of the best holiday villas in Lanzarote are located in the islands main resort of Puerto del Carmen which is just a short ten minute drive from the airport at Arrecife. Puerto del Carmen is located on Lanzarote´s south eastern coast and this is very well protected from the Trade Winds making it an ideal spot for sun seekers and beach lovers enabling tourists to make the best of the beaches in Puerto del Carmen, such as Playa Grande and Playa Chica..

In addition visitors can also discover other beaches nearby such as the huge sweep of sand at Los Pocillos and Matagorda. There are also lots of smaller bays and coves to explore in the resort just off the main Avenida de las Playas.

There are two other excellent resorts to choose from too - Playa Blanca in the south and Costa Teguise in the north Playa Blanca is located in the south of the island and has only emerged as a resort since development started there in the 1990´s. Visitors will find some great beaches to enjoy here too such as Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorado.

Costa Teguise is at the opposite end of the island in the north. And is home to some high quality accommodation, such as the luxurious Gran Melia Salinas hotel. As well as its own superb stretches of sand such as Playa Bastian and Playa Cucharas.

Wherever tourists choose to stay Lanzarote is just a four hour flight from the UK and rightly deserves the title of the Gem of the Canaries.
