To the Hotel! York?s the Place to be!

For a UK city break you can;t beat York. Although its Northern location means you might not get the perfect weather, it is still the perfect city for a romantic, cultural break. You’ll need a hotel (York has plenty) because there is simply too much to do in one day.

There is no place quite like this small and historical city. There are mazes of narrow, cobbled streets lined with small, independent shops as well as the nation’s big players. There’s also an array of riverside bars, cafes and restaurants from which you can take in the view of unrivalled architecture in the form of York Minster.

Great historical museums are par for the course in a city whose heritage is Roman, Viking and medieval all at once, so visit the Jorvik Viking Centre of the York Dungeon. The National Railway museum offers a more modern museum day out.

Away from the centre and your hotel, York is close to the dales and some stunning countryside. One venue worth visiting for the green fingered is nearby Harewood house whose exquisite gardens have recently been nominated for an award by a BBC magazine.

Whatever time of year you visit York there is sure to be something going on in the city. Many festivals, exhibitions and fairs visit the town. Well known examples are the historical festivals, the railway show and the regular markets.

When it comes to finding a hotel, York has great choice. Possibly the most prestigious hotel York has to offer is Alwark Manor. This is great choice because it has a golf course and spa to relax in after sight-seeing.
