Tourist Accommodation For Temporary Visitors To The United Kingdom

Do you intend visiting the the United Kingdom this year? Not sure where to stay? Britain has a broad variety of accommodation and rooms available for every budget.

Hotel Type Accommodation

There is a well organized hotel category, composed of international companies for example the Clarion and Travel Lodge, and a variety of independent hotels throughout the country. Some of these are expensive and some are aimed at the budget end of the market. Reckon on paying from twenty-five pounds per night per person (cheap rates) to £700 per night, according to the level of luxury you want. Costs change depending on what days you choose (a few give cheaper rates at weekends for example) or your location in the United Kingdom (urban centres are more expensive than the countryside and London, Cardiff and Edinburgh are the priciest places to stay).

The Serviced Apartment Sector

The past two decades have witnessed the the arrival of the serviced apartment sector. Serviced apartments, like serviced apartments in Manchester, are usually located in towns and cities. They generally provide not simply a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom like hotels, but provide a fully functioning kitchen and sitting room including up to three bedrooms. Studio apartments are available too. Serviced apartments are frequently larger than hotels and allow you the option of self catering in your room, relax and eat there or make the most of the local restaurants nearby. There is usually a maid and linen service and a reception desk which can organize other services you may need during your stay. Serviced apartments cater for corporate customers and tourists. They are great for small groups and families as friends and children can have a separate bedroom connected to the living room, unlike hotels where they may be given a bedroom down a public passageway.

Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Particular to the United Kingdom is the concept of a B and B. Usually situated in someone's home, they come in all shapes and sizes, some at premium rates and luxurious, for example Wolsey Lodges and others which are more basic. The idea is that you pay for your room and are served breakfast and then you vacate the premises by 10.00am and do not come back until about 5.00pm at night. Several bed and breakfasts serve dinner, however this is not always the case. If you are stopping briefly in a town or expect to explore a town or area extensively and don't require a permanent base to come back to in the daytime, this can be an economical option.

Accommodation For Travellers On A Budget

For people counting the pennies, there are budget Bed and Breakfasts, hotels with special deals and youth hostels. Youth hostels are situated everywhere throughout available both in towns and cities and in the countryside. They now provide breakfasts, sandwiches for lunchtime and dinners that sustain you well until the next day's walking, as well as supplying a communal kitchen where you can make your meals at the same time as other guests. Located in some of the UK's most stunning rural landscapes, Youth Hostels are a superb way to get together with a great selection of people and to explore more of the GB than the average overseas visitor. You can be any age to use a Youth Hostel and there are family rooms with private bathrooms in several hostels. Shared dormitories are also available. Although immaculately clean and warm, youth hostels are not luxurious! The idea is to get out into the countryside or city and to meet people: so no televisions, as a rule, but a choice of games for children and adults, walking maps and tourist information and challenging walks guaranteed.

Wherever you pick to stay, there is accommodation in the UK for everyone. Have a good time.
