What can you say about Bahamas scuba diving sites?

I'm planning on going to the Bahamas for a vacation. I'd like to try scuba diving while I'm there. What can you say about Bahamas scuba diving sites? Are the Bahamas scuba diving sites safe for children? I'm planning on bringing them along during the trip. Are there a lot of dive shops in the Bahamas? Can they teach us how to dive during our vacation? How much do the lessons cost? How much do trips to Bahamas scuba diving sites cost?

The Bahamas has a lot of diving sites to offer. Andros Island, for example, can offer sixty different diving sites that would showcase a fantastic variety of geological and coral variations. Since you are diving for the first time, you can start by taking a dive in the shallow reefs which are only ten feet deep. The advantage of diving in shallow reefs is that the color of the corals and other marine life is much more vivid. This is because there is more light from the sun penetrating these depths. Here, you would see corals like the elkhorn and the staghorn. Of course, for more experienced divers, they also have dive spots that have a depth of ninety feet and above. Since you are a beginner, sticking with shallow depths would be a good idea.

In Andros Island, you would find a lot of lodges that offer free scuba diving or snorkeling lessons.  These lessons are held in the shallow part of the beach. It's quite safe because if you feel the need to see the surface, all you have to do is stand up. In this program, you'll learn the basic skills that you need in order to be comfortable with the scuba gear that you will be using during your dive. Your children should be over ten years old in order to be able to participate in this program. Otherwise, they should try snorkeling instead. One of the lodges there has a program called SASSY, Supplied Air Snorkiling for Youth).

Even better, some lodges offer an all-inclusive package wherein you can avail of a daily or weekly package. The daily package rate is around $300 per head while the weekly package rate can be as low as $1,500. Both packages include beachfront cottage accommodation, meals, bar drinks and beverages, hotel taxes as well as scuba courses and other water activities.

Of course, when you go for an open water dive, you'll need to pay around $80 to $120, depending on the duration of your dive. A 2-tank boat dive can cost around $80 while a one-tank dive can cost around $60. You can also go for a full day of diving at $120. This is equivalent to three dives.

There are a lot of things to see in Bahamas scuba diving sites. You can go wreck diving or go for a shark observation dive. Some Bahamas scuba diving sites will show you blue holes and caverns that are so amazing you would want to take up scuba diving as a hobby. If that's the case, go for a certification course. Once you are a certified diver, you can try venturing to deeper depths.
