Which scuba diving flippers should I buy?

I went on a discovery dive during my stay in the Bahamas. And, I was very fascinated by the sights I saw underwater. I was very much inspired to get a certification course. Since I plan on making scuba diving my hobby, I need to get some equipment. I've already gotten a mask. Now, I'd like to get a pair of scuba diving flippers. How do you choose a pair of scuba diving flippers. There are so many pairs available in the market. They all look great but I know that looks aren't everything. What should I look for when I buy scuba diving flippers? I heard that there are some fins that you could only use for snorkeling. Is there a difference between scuba diving flippers and snorkeling flippers?

With the huge number of scuba diving flippers in the market, choosing a pair can be very confusing. Even worse, as our technology becomes more advanced, the variety of products to choose from becomes greater. And, with the promise of higher durability and efficiency, who can resist picking one of these expensive pairs from the counter?

When buying scuba gear, you should consider why you need it. The flippers or fins, for example, make it easier for you to move in the water. So, you need to look for a pair of fins that would give you the propulsion that you need underwater.

There are two types of scuba diving flippers: the full foot fins and the open heel fins. The full foot fins are usually used with bare feet. Since they are smaller in size, they can not give you the push you need when you go scuba diving. These fins are usually used for snorkeling. The open heel fins, on the other hand, should be worn with boots. Because these fins are larger and stiffer, it makes moving through the water much easier. Hence, this is very much recommended for scuba diving.

Now, let's move on to the different types of scuba diving flippers. The paddle fins are the most common type of fins for scuba diving. These fins help you move through the water by moving it up and down as you kick your legs. Recently, some companies have created paddle fins that have pivoting blades that can angle to the most efficient position while you kick up and down, giving you a more forceful push.

There are also other types of fins that have splits, cut outs or vents which make it easier to cut through the water. As of now, there are a lot of debates as to which is better: the conventional paddle fins or the new designs in the market? Of course, you should get the pair of fins that make gliding underwater more comfortable for you. Starting with a pair of paddle fins can be a good move. This way, you can compare it with the other fins in the market as you advance in this activity.
