Winter Vacation Spots in Israel

Perhaps you are trying to decide where to go on your vacation. With so many options out there, it can be very difficult to decide when and where to go. As you think about your decision, it will be worth your time to consider a winter vacation to the land of Israel.

Amazingly, the weather in Israel is perfect in the winter time. Winter in Israel does not necessarily mean snow and ice. Instead, it just means tolerable temperatures, less rain, and pleasant, mild weather. During the other months, Israel is so hot that it is sometimes difficult to travel during the late morning and afternoon hours without sweating and drinking large amounts of water to stay hydrated. In the wintertime, however, the temperatures range from 45-65 degrees Fahrenheit, so only a light to medium jacket is required. It's truly perfect weather for exploring, enjoying the sights and relaxing without the scorching sun.

Unlike other vacation spots, Israel's tourist sites don't shut down in the winter months. Almost everything that you would visit during other months is available during the winter as well. The people who live there will be working, playing and living as always. The happenings in Israel continue as usual, with no lapse because of tourism or the weather. You may notice that the hours are shorter at some of the attractions, due to the off-season, but everything is still available and waiting for the winter tourists who come to visit.

There are many year-round activities that you can enjoy during the winter months in Israel. One nice thing is that since the majority of people visit in the other three months, you can get into places quicker without standing in lines and waiting. Rather you are exploring indoors or outdoors, you will find plenty of things to do without the hassle of large, overcrowded areas.

One interesting place to visit is the Pioneer Museum, located in the Jezreel Valley in Kibbutz Yifat. The museum tells about the people who settled in the Yizrael Valley between 1911 and 1951. A part of Israel's history, there are articles of clothing, furniture and other interesting materials from this time period.

In Mt. Tabor in Lower Galilee, you will find the Marzipan Museum, another fascinating place to visit. In this amazing facility, everything about marzipan, a confection of almond meal and sugar, is explained. There are pieces of art made from marzipan, flavored marzipan candies, and a complete session to learn about the processing of the almonds and how marzipan is made.

The Western Wall, Via Dolorosa, and most of the religious facilities are open year round. At these places, you will be exposed to the rich culture of the area and experience the religious background that surrounds all Israel. There is no end to the amount of activities that are available for anyone visiting the Holy Land in the wintertime.

Many vacationers also enjoy visiting the amazing vineyards and wineries of Northern Israel. There are wine-tasting tours at many of the visitor centers that are open year-round. The Mount Galilee winery is an especially attractive spot due to its amazing structure. With wine being such an important part of Jewish history, no one would want to miss visiting one of these amazing attractions.

You will also be able to enjoy some fantastic discounts by visiting Israel in the wintertime. Because it's not the regular tourist season, you will enjoy special discounts at many of the sights, motels, restaurants and even airlines. There are also special winter packages that give quite a large discount for those traveling in the off-season months. So, you will be able to save money and enjoy the same motels, cuisine and sightseeing that others will enjoy in the hotter, busier months.

Finding accommodations in Israel are never a problem. There are a variety of Eilat hotels that are located near some of the best tourist areas. Also, the hotels in the Dead Sea are situated near many outside attractions where one will find plenty of culture and historical sites. The hotels in Tel Aviv will be especially accommodating and convenient for all vacationing needs and plans. There are reasonable rates and luxurious rooms available to meet the needs of anyone or a family who is traveling. When visiting Israel in the wintertime, you will be pleased to find hotels near the main attractions, giving you access to the many wonders of the Holy Land.
