Working as an air courier for an international courier company is a good way of getting cheap air travel and seeing the world. The job doesn't suit everyone however, but it is a fantastic way to get around cheaply or sometimes even for free. You will be expected as an air courier to carry time sensitive packages or documents for a third party on major airlines to great business destinations all over the world.

Companies are often looking for a business courier for their international package delivery and so there is plenty of work about if you want it. If you agree to become an air courier very close to the departure date, you can expect huge discounts. However, agreeing to become a courier further away from the date means that the discounts on offer will be much less. Leaving the agreement to become an air courier until the last minute means that you will have less chance of getting a seat on the exact flight that you want, but obviously the discounts are high. There are drawbacks to all these savings though. You will only get flights to major business destinations because that is where the packages usually need to go. Your luggage will be limited too because the rest of your baggage allowance will be taken up by the package you are delivering. You still have to pay some of your fare and a deposit, and the flights are non-changeable making flexibility an issue. If you plan on travelling with someone else, it isn't easy to get them on the same flight as you, much less on a seat next to you, but it is possible. They will also have to pay for their own flight unless they are also travelling as a courier. Note however that most flights will only have one courier on them so you will usually have to get separate flights. Travel to the airport and visas will be your responsibility so you will need to make sure that you sort these out well in advance. You will also need to sort out the necessary vaccinations too. It is a sensible idea to make sure that you are up to date on all the major travel vaccinations so that you are already covered if you get a last minute flight. Being an air courier is great if the lifestyle suits you. The first time that you do it you may not get the best deal but the more you work as an air courier, the more you will learn how to plan things to your advantage.
